AppZapp Vs. Appadvice

AppZapp and Appadvice are the dominant apps in its field of introducing and conveying information about iOS Apps. They are highly recommendable money-saver apps, that no smartphones & tablets should be without. Read the summary section for the general overview and conclusion of the article. In-depth discussion is further provided in the body of text.

Summary :
There are about 500,000+ apps in the Apple Appstore, with many more apps being developed as you read this article. This being said - it is inevitable that many apps are developed to deliver the same functions to one another. For example, both Tweetdeck and Twitterfeed are apps that allow mobile tweeting. Then how do we know which apps are best for what they do? This is where apps such as AppZapp and Appadvice comes in handy. AppZapp is an ad-supported [free] app with extensive information about newly developed apps, price drops and worldwide app rankings. On the other hand, Appadvice costs US $1.99, in addition to what AppZapp has to offer, Appadvice also delivers detailed reviews of popular apps and highlights noteworthy apps. I've used both apps for some time now and to be honest, the practicability of the two apps are essentially the same.

In conclusion, I would recommend Appadvice only if you are new to the Appstore; and you have no idea which apps to purchase (although such confusion can be resolved within minutes of online research). However if you have some prior knowledge and experience of the Appstore, AppZapp should be more than enough for you. But if you like reading good app reviews (and hopefully that's why you are reading this...!) donating a couple of bucks to Appadvice isn't really a bad idea - after all, they do write fantastic reviews :-)

Below are two screenshots displaying the main menus for Appadvice and Appzapp.

Appadvice menu UI
Unlike AppZapp, app recommendations and reviews are
much more extensive in Appadvice, where similar apps
are oftentimes compared together.

AppZapp main UI
AppZapp is mostly dedicated to alerting Price drops.
'Extensions' can be purchased in the Settings for notification
and ad-free add-ons (not necessary).

As you can see from the screenshots, the two apps are very similar - almost giving the impression that the apps were developed by the same person. Settings for both apps can be tweaked to suit the users' needs - for example, the nationality of the appstore and the category of interest (ie. Productivity). Again, I have respect for those who write good app reviews, and Appadvice is definitely one of them - however, downloading the free AppZapp over Appadvice is a no-brainer. Getting in the habit of checking these "app apps" will allow you to save money and learn about great new apps. I personally use these two apps on a daily basis - other recommendable apps includes but not limited to: Discovr Apps, FreeAppADay, and Appsfire. Clicking on the names will direct you to its respective appstore page [us Appstore].
